Memories Through The Lens
Dancing Paint Project
Some years ago Steve Kazemir showed a nice technique to photograph splashing paint on a speaker. He takes fantastic, colorful paint splash photos with the help of a speaker, a garbage bag and some noise.
Paint splash photos are really fun to take, and they can certainly look amazing.
The process summarized in an infographic:
Despite the clear description and the examples from Steve's video,  it wasnt easy to get good dancing paint. The biggest issue is the tension necessary on the membrane.
In the end we managed to get decent pictures and the process was repeatable.
But next time we will look into the membrane issue further!

The setup:
The process is pretty straightforward : focus the camera (with the help of an object like the cup/battery), put the paint on the membrane, get ready behind the camera, dim the light, take the shot (5 sec shutter), make the sound, paint will start jumping; after delay flash executed; shutter will close, lighs on again .
and after cleaning the membrane a new dancing-run can be started again.
